Elizabeth Derby began her love affair with words as an infant who spent hours quietly fascinated by books. Today, little has changed, though she is far less likely to drool on the pages. A New Jersey native and product of a performing arts high school, young Elizabeth quickly learned the importance of verbal self-defense and still thanks her lucky stars that she turned out to be a writer. After four years in Virginia at the College of William and Mary, she fled north, armed with nothing but self-assurance, a laptop, a Bachelor’s degree, decent savings, and free room and board with her family—the sort of daring behavior that so often portends greatness. These days, Elizabeth works as a Marketing Assistant in the high-stakes world of air freshener development and writes fictional screenplays, short stories, and an online journal for her Alma mater about the perils of life after college.
