Meghan McCarthy

As the grand daughter of Irish Catholic immigrants who settled in Hell's Kitchen New York and a New Jersey native, Meghan had no choice but to be pretty feisty. An '07 graduate of the College of William and Mary, Meghan raised some hell at her alma mater by fighting frat "philanthropies", bringing a controversial alumna to speak at the College and encouraging women to run for the student government. She has yet to find her good fight in the "real world", but is taking things one day at a time. (Perhaps this journalism thing is a start.) Meghan one day hopes to travel to Afghanistan and figure out just how to get those donors to coordinate. For now, she writes short-term research reports for hospitals (ANTHRO!) on exciting topics that range from patient entertainment systems to left atrial appendage occlusion.

Meghan started blogging in October, when she couldn't help but share her thoughts and opinions with who ever was willing to read them. After a few exciting months of solo blogging adventures, she thought "Hey! I've got lots of smart, interesting friends who could write some awesome blog posts!" With that, and the encouragement of Hayden Budds, Last Stop in the District was born. Meghan currently serves as the foreign affairs contributor, webmistress, and proofer/calendar keeper for this excellent publication.
